In this tutorial we will explain how to start broadcasting using SAM Broadcaster with the listen2myradio premium service
SAM Broadcaster is a Windows based radio streaming application. It offers a lot more options then the DSP plugin that can be downloaded for free from shoutcast.com
In this tutorial we wont explain all of the features available in SAM Broadcaster, we will just show you how to set it up so you can start streaming right away
On the main window of SAM Broadcaster, you will see menus called „Desktops“ click on „Desktop B“
On „Desktop B“ there will be a „Encoders“ menu
Click on the + icon and a new window will appear where you can select a encoder, select “MP3 Normal”
In the “Converter” tab of the new window you can configure the bitrate you want to stream at and the quality settings, we will leave ours at “Fast resampling” so we don’t get buffering problems
•Note: Don’t select a higher bitrate then the one that your package supports, if you do so, your server will shut down and you will have to restart it
You should set the reconnect setting to 5 seconds so it connects faster in case the stream gets disconnected and you don’t notice it
Now on the “Server Details” tab you need to configure your streaming parameters like ip, port, password, name etc…
•Server Details
•Server type-Shoutcast
•Server IP-The ip of your server (you can lookup the ip in your CentovaCast control panel)
•Server port-The port of your server (you can lookup the ip in your CentovaCast control panel)
•Password-Your Source password, if you don’t know or forgot your password, you can change it in the CentovaCast control panel under Configure Server/Stream tab•Station details
This is about it when it comes to the “Server Details” tab, in the “Stream Archive” tab you can, as the name implies save your stream to a file•Station Name-The name of your stream/radio
•Genre-The music genre you usually stream
•Website URL-The address of your radio’s website (if you happen to have one)
•List on public station listing-We disable this for privacy reasons,
•Enable title streaming-This feature sends the titles of your tracks with the stream, so the listeners can see the names of the tracks they are listening to
Now click on “OK” and go to the “Statistic relays” menu
Statistic relays are a way of knowing how many people are listening your stream, even thought they are not really required for streaming, they are useful so we will show you how to enable them
Click on the plus symbol on the “Statistic relays” menu and a new window will open, in this new window select the “Shoutcast statistic relay” and click “OK”
In the new window you need to input your server ip,port and source password, you can get all of these details from your CentovaCast control panel
Color on graph- Select the color you like best
Private statistic relay-We advise you to enable this option, for privacy reasons.
When you have configured everything click “OK”
Now you can start your “Encoder”
Go to the “Encoder” menu on “Desktop B” and select your encoder, when you have selected your desired encoder click on the “Play” symbol
If the status changes to “Encoding” it is working
If you did everything right your “Statistic relays” should work as well, the best way to make sure is just to start streaming
Playing music
To start go to “Desktop A”
In the “Queue” menu click on the green + icon
Now find some mp3 files and add them to the queue, when you see the files in the queue just double-click on one and it will appear in “Deck A” and start playing
At this point we wont explain the advanced features of SAM Broadcaster , you can read all about it in the # SAM Broadcaster wiki
Voice-over
If you want to talk with the music in the background just go to the “Voice FX” menu
Click on the “Mic off” button and then click on “Press to Talk” or “Lock talk” depending on what you want, if you don’t want to press a button, use lock talk
